Where each number comes from
Composition tables list ingredients, not dinners. There is no row anywhere for this plate, so it is built from its parts, and the preparation assumed for each part is written next to it, because that assumption is usually worth more calories than the ingredient.
| Component | Portion and preparation | kcal |
|---|---|---|
| Fries (Pommes) | A standard snack-bar portion, about 200 gBLS K130492 (Pommes frites tiefgefroren, frittiert). Frozen fries, deep fried. Oven-baked fries come to about 165 kcal per 100 g against 203 here (BLS K130262). | 405 |

Why you will see 547 to 950 kcal quoted for this
Hofmann lists its ready meals at 547 to 859 kcal for 340 to 540 g, and restaurant plates are put at about 950. Breaded or plain explains part of the spread, the size of the fries portion the rest. In eastern Germany a Jägerschnitzel can also mean a breaded slice of Jagdwurst with tomato sauce and pasta, a different dish again.
Which is why this page shows the sum instead of asserting a total. Build the plate you actually eat and the number is yours rather than an average of strangers.
