How many calories are in a döner kebab?
A döner kebab in a quarter of a Turkish flatbread, with 130 g of veal and beef, salad and yoghurt sauce, comes to about 700 kcal. The bread is 300 of that, almost as much as the meat, and it is the part people tend to leave out when they estimate.

The plate, as served
A quarter of a round Turkish flatbread, about 130 g of veal and beef döner meat, a handful of salad and two squirts of yoghurt garlic sauce.

The same dish, several ways
This is where the calories actually move. Not the ingredient, the cooking.
- With extra meat1,035+335
A second portion of meat is 335 kcal, which takes the kebab past 1,000.
- With a mayonnaise-based sauce800+100
Some shops pump a mayonnaise sauce instead of a yoghurt one. Same squirt, 100 kcal more.
- Chicken instead of veal and beef715+15
Fifteen kcal more, not less. BLS puts chicken döner meat at 268 kcal per 100 g against 256 for the veal mince.

The yoghurt sauce is only 45 kcal. It is one of the light parts of the kebab.
Where each number comes from
Composition tables list ingredients, not dinners. There is no row anywhere for this plate, so it is built from its parts, and the preparation assumed for each part is written next to it, because that assumption is usually worth more calories than the ingredient.
| Component | Portion and preparation | kcal |
|---|---|---|
| Döner meat, veal and beef | A snack-bar portion, about 130 gBLS U030172 (Kalb Hackfleisch, gegrillt). German Döner spits are usually part minced meat. BLS has no Döner row for veal or beef, so grilled veal mince, the closest match, is used. | 335 |
| Turkish flatbread (Fladenbrot) | A quarter of a round loaf, about 120 gBLS B782100 (Weizenfladenbrot). Wheat flatbread as a kebab shop cuts it for a Döner. Toasted on the grill, no fat added. | 300 |
| Yoghurt garlic sauce | Two squirts, about 50 gBLS X3A9010 (Joghurt-Dip). The yoghurt-based herb or garlic sauce. A mayonnaise-based sauce is roughly three times as much per spoonful (BLS R148600). | 45 |
| Döner salad | A handful, about 80 gBLS X201160 (Gemischter Salat ohne Salatmarinade). Lettuce, cabbage, tomato and onion with no dressing. BLS row for a mixed salad without marinade. | 20 |

Why you will see 460 to 830 kcal quoted for this
fddb gives 460 kcal for a 250 g kebab and 828 for a 450 g one, and Bodystriker puts chicken at 500 to 700 and veal at 600 to 850. The weight of the kebab explains most of that. The meat explains less than people expect, and in the other direction: BLS records the whole chicken kebab at 199 kcal per 100 g and the veal and beef one at 177.
Which is why this page shows the sum instead of asserting a total. Build the plate you actually eat and the number is yours rather than an average of strangers.
