MyCalorieCoach: a MacroFactor alternative for people who do not want to weigh things
MacroFactor is the best-built tracker in this category: the adaptive TDEE algorithm is genuinely good science and it deserves the reputation. It also expects you to log carefully, in grams, every day. MyCalorieCoach expects a sentence. If you enjoy the precision, MacroFactor is the better app and we will happily say so. Quit two trackers over exactly that precision? Then this is a different shape of product, at $29.99 a year against $71.99.

MyCalorieCoach vs MacroFactor
Including the rows we lose. A table one side wins ten to nothing is an advert, not a comparison.

Why people go looking for a MacroFactor alternative
It assumes you will log properly
The adaptive algorithm is only as good as the data you feed it, and it is designed for someone who weighs food and logs consistently. That is a real commitment, and it is the commitment most people cannot sustain.
It will not tell you what to cook
It will show you exactly where you stand against your macros, to the gram. Closing a 40g protein gap tonight, out of what is actually in your fridge, is left entirely to you.
Nothing knows your non-negotiables
No tracker has a concept of a food you will not give up. If your morning latte and your Sunday roast are fixed, that is information a coach should be planning around.
It is more than twice the price
$71.99 a year against $29.99, and there is no free tier at all. That is fair for what it is. It is worth knowing before you subscribe.
Where MacroFactor is the better choice
If any of these matter more to you than the rest of this page, stay where you are. It is a good app and we would rather you kept using it than paid us for the wrong fit.
- The adaptive TDEE algorithm is the best version of that idea anywhere, and it shows its working.
- Deeper macro and micronutrient control than ours. If you are programming a real cut or bulk, that matters.
- The logging tools are fast and well designed, clearly built by people who use them.
- Android, plus a separate Workouts app if you want training in the same place.
Common questions
- Is MyCalorieCoach better than MacroFactor?
- For a lifter who logs by weight and wants precise macro control, no, MacroFactor is better and it is not close. For someone who has quit three trackers because the logging is the chore, this is a different product entirely: you talk to it, and it does the arithmetic.
- How much does MacroFactor cost?
- $11.99 a month, $47.99 for half a year, or $71.99 a year, with a $89.99 bundle that adds their Workouts app. There is no free tier. Checked on 2026-09-01 against their own pricing page.
- Does MyCalorieCoach have an adaptive calorie target like MacroFactor?
- Yes. Your plan re-tunes as your weight actually moves rather than holding a number worked out on day one. MacroFactor exposes more of that machinery to you; we mostly get on with it and tell you when something changed.
- Do I have to weigh my food with MyCalorieCoach?
- No. You can if you want, and the numbers get better when you do. "I had a latte and two eggs" is a complete log, and correcting a portion once teaches the coach your normal serving for next time.
- Does MyCalorieCoach track micronutrients?
- Not at the depth MacroFactor does. We track calories, protein, carbs, fat, fibre and water. If a full micronutrient panel is what you are shopping for, MacroFactor or Cronometer are the right answer.
