MyCalorieCoach

MyCalorieCoach: a YAZIO alternative that plans the day, not just records it

YAZIO is a very well-designed food diary with fasting timers and recipes, and it is cheaper than most of its competitors. It is still a diary: you search, you log, you look at a chart. MyCalorieCoach is a conversation. You tell it what you ate, and it tells you what still fits tonight around the food you have said you will not give up.

Price, side by side

MyCalorieCoach

$29.99 / year

or $9.99 a month. 14 day free trial, the whole app.

Founding price, locked for 3 years against a standard annual plan of $83.99.

YAZIO

$47.90 / year

or $6.99 a month. Free trial length not stated.

That is the standard US annual price. YAZIO discounts aggressively and promotional annual offers around $23.90 are common, so what you see may be lower. There is a free tier.

That is $18 a year less, every year.

Prices in USD. App Store prices vary by territory, and several apps in this category run frequent price tests, so check before you buy. YAZIO price checked on 2026-09-01: YAZIO PRO pricing, as reported.

MyCalorieCoach vs YAZIO

Including the rows we lose. A table one side wins ten to nothing is an advert, not a comparison.

Why people go looking for a YAZIO alternative

Beautiful, and still a diary

YAZIO is genuinely the nicest-looking tracker in the category. Design does not change the loop: search, log, review. If that loop is the thing you quit, a nicer version of it does not fix it.

Recipes are not the same as a plan for tonight

A recipe library is a catalogue. It does not know you have 640 kcal left, that your protein is short, and that there is chicken and spinach in your fridge.

The database is European by construction

Excellent for packaged European food. Thin for a plate assembled at home out of rice and three curries, because nobody ever entered that plate.

It has no idea what you will not give up

Every calorie in there is equally negotiable, which is tidy and wrong. Sunday lunch at your mother’s is not a variable.

Where YAZIO is the better choice

If any of these matter more to you than the rest of this page, stay where you are. It is a good app and we would rather you kept using it than paid us for the wrong fit.

Common questions

Is MyCalorieCoach cheaper than YAZIO PRO?
At standard prices yes: $29.99 a year against about $47.90. YAZIO discounts often, and promotional annual offers around $23.90 are common, so on a promotion they can be cheaper. Prices checked on 2026-09-01 and both vary by App Store territory.
Does MyCalorieCoach have fasting timers?
No. If intermittent fasting is the method you want supported, YAZIO or Simple do it properly and we do not do it at all.
What is the best YAZIO alternative?
If you want the same thing done differently, Lose It! and MyFitnessPal are the closest. If the thing you actually want is something that decides for you rather than records for you, that is a different category, and it is what this is.
Does MyCalorieCoach work for European or non-Western food?
Yes, both. There is no database to be missing from, so a plate of rice and curry, a Sunday roast and a bowl of pasta bake are all handled the same way. You pick your cuisine when you start and the coach works in it from the first message.
Is YAZIO worth paying for?
If you like logging and you want the nicest version of it, yes, especially on a promotional price. If you have quit two or three trackers already, a better-designed tracker is unlikely to be the thing that changes it.
